Audio: Scarface Not Feeling VH1’s “Dirty South” Hip-Hop Honors Tribute

Wednesday, 19 May 2010 15:25

Face called into the HoodHype Show last night to express his displeasure with VH1 for the “Dirty South” label that has been applied to their upcoming Hip-Hop Honors tribute to Southern MCs. Now, Scarface is probably my favorite Southern MC ever, but I’m not sure I understand his beef. He says he doesn’t appreciate being called “dirty” but at the same time he says he never had a problem with the Dungeon Family’s popularization of the term. I guess it’s one of those we-can-refer-to-ourselves-as-such-but-don’t-you-dare type of things. LOL @ this all of a sudden being an issue. But then again it’s fucking Scarface, dude has earned the right to feel however the fuck he wants.

Two Men Beat Up After Failed Robbery Attempt At Gucci Mane Video Shoo

Written by: Trill Chris

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane, who was recently released from a Fulton County jail, can’t seem to escape controversy.

Gucci has been working non-stop since his release from jail last Wednesday, shooting seven music videos in seven days. Violence erupted on the fourth day while shooting the video for “Anti Social”, leaving two men severely injured. HipHopEnquirer.com photographer Dennis Byron snapped pictures and detailed the attack.

“A short time after 8:00pm while I was conducting an interview with R & B singer Mila, who is also featured on the ‘Anti Social’ single, I heard a thumping sound and when I turned around I saw these two males sprawled out on the street” said Bryon. “One of the men involved appeared to be unconscious as his body was motionless. The other male appeared to be incoherent when he was being questioned by passerby.”

According to witnesses, the men were seen breaking into cars on the set of the video shoot.

“After the thieves were subdued, the authorities were contacted and paramedics were dispatched” stated Byron. According to the HipHopEnquirer, Gucci Mane & his affiliates were not involved in the fight. Check out pictures of the suspects laid out below:

Fontana, the independent distribution arm of Universal Music Group, has signed an exclusive distribution deal with critically-acclaimed Houston-based Rap-A-Lot Records. The news came today after being announced by Ron Spaulding, President of Fontana, and James Smith (a.k.a. J. Prince), Founder of Rap-A-Lot Records.

Rap-A-Lot Records was created in Houston in 1986, putting the South on the hip-hop map with its most famous act, The Geto Boys. Rap-A-Lot has continued to focus on rap by navigating the careers of Devin The Dude, Tela, Yukmouth, Do or Die, Scarface, Z-Ro, Bun B, Pimp C, and Trae Tha Truth, among many others. Rap-A-Lot has released almost 200 titles to date and recently launched the upcoming celebration of the label’s 25th Anniversary. The company will mark the anniversary with releases from Z-Ro, Bun B, Pimp C and several themed compilations using select songs from Rap-A-Lot’s extensive catalog.

“I have been doing business with James Prince and Rap-A-Lot for a long time and it is an honor to welcome his entire team to Fontana. James is a true music visionary and has established Rap-A-Lot as one of the great pioneers of southern hip-hop, a true original,” stated Mr. Spaulding. “And as they approach their well-earned milestone of 25 years in the industry, Fontana is thrilled to embrace their innovation, rich catalog and talented artists as we play a role in the next exciting chapter of their history.”

“I am excited about Rap-A-Lot Records’ new journey and the opportunity to work with Jim Urie (President & CEO, Universal Music Group Distribution) and Ron, two music executives that I have the utmost respect for,” added J Prince. “I believe in the Universal/Fontana system and I look forward to having the Rap-A-Lot brand be a part of the #1 music company.”
